‘s 5% Decline

Curious how well insiders are doing with their buys? Scroll through the significant buys of the last year. The S&P 500 lost over 6% points last week after losing 5% in the previous week. Stocks don’t fall like this unless there is something really wrong. I’m trying to figure that out and the only thing that I can come up with is that the Fed has been bullied into raising interest rates into a weakening economy. Raising interest rates to bring down the price of oil or to untangle the supply chain disruptions is an act of lunacy.  The … Read more

Insider Buying Week 5-20-22 Trying to Go Up on a Down Escalator

Curious how well insiders are doing with their buys? Scroll through the significant buys of the last year. I spent much of last weekend toiling over the Insiders Report.  Insider buying is picking up in the ruins of the NASDAQ but not enough to waive the all-clear flag that I described in the last post.  The  S&P 500 dipped into “bear” territory Friday only to stage a furious machine-driven short-covering rally that erased a 560 point decline in the last 30 minutes of the day.  Read on for the brave souls that keep trying to ride up the down … Read more

Bye Bye American Pie Insider Buying week 01-21-22

Curious how well insiders are doing with their buys? Scroll the significant buys of the last year. We’re in a vicious bear market the like of which harks back to the Dot.com bubble bursting for stocks with little or no earnings.  That’s most of the cloud stocks and pretty much all the speculative SPAC’s that are getting annihilated by the Great Unwind. The Indices mask the carnage that is happening below the surface. You don’t need to look to Ukraine for the bloodbath. It’s already well underway on the NASDAQ. There wasn’t much in the way of insider activity … Read more

Tech Stocks Long Overdue Comeuppance – Insiders are the Ultimate Value Buyer

Nothing like a thousand point drop in the Dow to remind you that stocks don’t go up forever.  Neither do insiders blindly chase their stock price higher.  Just the opposite. They are the ultimate “value” buyer. Tech crashed and burned last week all because an impulsive Japanese billionaire, Masayoshi Son, gambled $45 billion in call options on big tech names. At least that’s what they’d like you to believe.  According to traders, there have been mammoth options trades that include buying call options on stocks like Amazon.com Inc., Adobe Inc., Netflix Inc., Facebook Inc. Microsoft Corp, generating chatter across Wall Street. The following companies … Read more

Fibrogen CEO Conterno bought 27,800 shares at $35.47.  After last year’s unexpected passing of founder and long-time helmsman Thomas Neff, FibroGen needed a permanent successor—and with its big roxadustat launch looming, that new CEO would ideally know the ropes in kidney and metabolic diseases. This is his first open market purchase.  Here is a link to a  recent Goldman Sachs investor presentation According to their website, FGEN is dedicated to creating innovative, first-in-class medicines for the treatment … Read more

Insiders Put the Petal to the Metal as Animal Spirits Show Signs of Life

Animal spirits are picking up.  This is the most buying we’ve seen since the market sell-off last December. Top Stocks Insiders are Buying and Unloading this Week

In this report we examine stocks that C-level officers and directors  bought and sold ending the week of September 22nd, 2017.  Insiders sell stock for a variety of reasons but they generally buy for just one, to make money.  We only look at material amounts of money, $100k or more, as anything less could be window dressing.  The bar is different on selling as the natural state of management is to be sellers.  Most companies provide significant amounts of their compensation packages as stock. Therefore we analyze selling for unusual patterns; such as insider selling 25% or more of their … Read more
