‘s 5% Decline

Curious how well insiders are doing with their buys? Scroll through the significant buys of the last year. The S&P 500 lost over 6% points last week after losing 5% in the previous week. Stocks don’t fall like this unless there is something really wrong. I’m trying to figure that out and the only thing that I can come up with is that the Fed has been bullied into raising interest rates into a weakening economy. Raising interest rates to bring down the price of oil or to untangle the supply chain disruptions is an act of lunacy.  The … Read more

Insider Buying Week 5-26-22 Best Week Since November 2020

Curious how well insiders are doing with their buys? Scroll through the significant buys of the last year. The S&P 500 scorched the short-sellers, racking up the best performing since November 2020, up an astounding 6.19% for the week. So is this the all-clear sign?  We wrote last week a Temporary Truce in the Alpha War Zone that the insider buying sell ratio in the NASDAQ stocks looked like it had reached a short-term buy signal.  I hope you were able to take advantage of that. There will probably be a little carry through from such a big move … Read more

Insider Buying Week 5-20-22 Trying to Go Up on a Down Escalator

Curious how well insiders are doing with their buys? Scroll through the significant buys of the last year. I spent much of last weekend toiling over the Insiders Report.  Insider buying is picking up in the ruins of the NASDAQ but not enough to waive the all-clear flag that I described in the last post.  The  S&P 500 dipped into “bear” territory Friday only to stage a furious machine-driven short-covering rally that erased a 560 point decline in the last 30 minutes of the day.  Read on for the brave souls that keep trying to ride up the down … Read more

Insiders Retreat and Turn into Sellers Week Ending March 27th

The Washington Service reports insider buying ratio at the highest level they’v recorded since the Great Recession in the fall of 2008 and the retest in 2009.. They look at a 30 day moving average ratio of insider buys to sells.  All previous markets have sharply rebounded when this occurred. Is this time different? We track insider purchases over $200K very carefully and accurately. Last Friday there were only six buys over $200k and 145 sells.  It seems even insider buying is now rolling over.  That is likely because as we near the end of the quarter, most insiders are … Read more

Notable Insider Buys Week Ending 2-14-20

Avis got a new Chairman of the Board and he bought a lot of stock. Bernardo Hees, CEO of Kraft Heinz, bought 430,169  of CAR at $34.87.  That was his first purchase and it was a big one, $15 million.  It’s hard to say what the future is for the car rental companies with the gig economy, ride sharing, and autonomous vehicles. It’s not one we want to participate in, though. Chairman of the Board, Duncan, continues to amass significant shares of Enterprise Products Partners. Taken into perspective, this $5 million EPD buy represents a pittance of his vast holdings, … Read more

Buying American Homes for Rent AMH Chairman of the Board, Hugh Wayne, bought a monstrous $30 million worth of this REIT increasing his holdings by 12.9%.  I have watched Mr. Wayne purchase stock for sometime in this low yielding REIT and have been curious as to the end game.  It was established in 2012 by Public Storage founder Wayne Hughes after scooping up thousands of foreclosed homes.  I believe the plan is simple, profiting from once in a life time housing meltdown, lack of affordable housing, raising rents, and then ultimately selling the homes at greater prices.  Undoubtedly it will work … Read more
