Top Stocks Insiders are Buying and Unloading Now

In this report we examine stocks that C-level officers and directors  bought and sold ending the week of September 22nd, 2017.  Insiders sell stock for a variety of reasons but they generally buy for just one, to make money.  We only look at material amounts of money, $100k or more, as anything less could be window dressing.  The bar is different on selling as the natural state of management is to be sellers.  Most companies provide significant amounts of their compensation packages as stock. Therefore we analyze selling for unusual patterns; such as insider selling 25% or more of their … Read more

$QCOM Qualcomm, please settle with Apple and move on!

Our read here is that both companies will ultimately end up winners. We are long QCOM but have no idea on the time frame for this investment and it has yet to make us any money.  This Bloomberg piece is one of the better pieces written on this complex situation. Qualcomm is at the center of a secular revolution in semiconductors and we are highly confident in the long-term future.  First there were personal computers, next the Internet, then smart phones, and the next leg up will be automobiles of all types; traditional, battery, and autonomous.  Semiconductors are at the … Read more

$AMC CEO Aron puts his money where his mouth is in this CNBC breaking interview

AMC wants to break film’s fourth wall with bet on virtual reality 53 Mins AgoAdam Aron, AMC Entertainment president & CEO, and Kevin Wall, Dreamscape Immersive co-chairman, discusses AMC teaming up with Dreamscape to bring virtual reality to the movie theater experience. Buying American Homes for Rent AMH Chairman of the Board, Hugh Wayne, bought a monstrous $30 million worth of this REIT increasing his holdings by 12.9%.  I have watched Mr. Wayne purchase stock for sometime in this low yielding REIT and have been curious as to the end game.  It was established in 2012 by Public Storage founder Wayne Hughes after scooping up thousands of foreclosed homes.  I believe the plan is simple, profiting from once in a life time housing meltdown, lack of affordable housing, raising rents, and then ultimately selling the homes at greater prices.  Undoubtedly it will work … Read more

Day 1 Enercom Denver

This year’s annual ritual, the Enercom Oil and Gas conference in Denver, kicked off with a recurring theme: Commodity prices are low, producers are lowering costs, and producing more. Nothing here to make you want to jump on the black gold bandwagon. But then again, the world is a dangerous place, probably becoming more dangerous and the global supply of hydrocarbons could be disrupted. The mood is somber and nothing remotely like a “trumped-up oil and gas frenzy.  Until something disrupts or dampens supply, we believe all rallies in this space should be sold.  WTI under $50 is not a … Read more

How Reliable is Insider Selling? Not Very

We look at insiders buying and selling of their companies’  stock. Analyzing insider selling can be tricky, though, and does not guarantee a negative outlook. People sell  for a variety of reasons: there are planned sales, employees retiring, and people just wanting to cash in their returns but they buy for one reason, to make money. It’s normal to see insiders selling on a regular basis. That doesn’t raise red flags. However, we look for unusual patterns: insiders selling at 52-week lows (not something you want to see in a stock you own), cluster selling, and smart insiders(those that have exhibited … Read more
